When a sexual assault is reported, the University may issue a safety awareness alert to the entire University community that briefly describes what happened and states the time and location.

• The victim is not identified by name, exact address, or University affiliation.
• A description of the offender is included only if the victim’s report is sufficiently detailed; no safety awareness alert is issued if the offender was previously known to the victim.

Concerns about privacy should not discourage people from reporting crimes.
